Meat Cutter / Sausage & Salumi Production: training provided, multiple openings available

Candidates must have an eye for consistency and quality as well as the ability to work in a refrigerated environment and do some heavy lifting.

Practice old-school butchering skills, working by hand in small batches as part of Smoking Goose’s Raw Production Team in our USDA-inspected meatery. This is not a slaughtering position. This production position involves meat cutting and trimming, mixing and stuffing sausages and salumi, brining hams, and more: all the hands-on steps to make over 40 varieties of salumi, sausages, cured meats, and smoked meats. Again, training is provided.

These are full-time positions; however, part-time hours would be available for the right candidates.

Public Smokehouse:
Food Prep + Customer Service

Public Smokehouse is Smoking Goose’s retail market, open to the public for walk-in shopping and pre-order pick up.

Work daytime hours (off evenings and holidays).

Starts at $15/hour base pay plus tips. Full-time hours offer matching 401K, health insurance, and paid time off. Perks include staff discount, office snacks and meals, and more. Part-time hours are also available for the right candidate.

Culinary experience is preferred, but on-the-job training is provided and all those with a passion for working with good food and great people are encouraged to apply.

Duties include preparing, cooking, and packaging seasonal specials in the Smoking Goose kitchen plus stocking, creating displays, packaging orders for pick up or shipping, and running the cash register. As Public Smokehouse is open to walk-in customers, associates also engage guests with exceptional front-line customer service both in person and over the phone.

Janitor/Sanitation:

Duties include washing the dishes, equipment, and rooms we use to make sausages, salumi, and smoked meats. Some janitorial cleaning in common areas is also included.

Store Manager, Public Smokehouse at Smoking Goose

Public Smokehouse is Smoking Goose’s retail market, open to the public for walk-in shopping + ready-to-eat menu as well as shipping orders nationwide.

The Store Manager is a hands-on leader who oversees all aspects of operations. From online order fulfillment and shipping to in-person customer service, the Store Manager works with staff in all areas.

Creating work schedules and task lists, managing inventory, and leading staff in providing excellent customer service are some key duties. Excellent communication skills, computer literacy, and the demonstrated ability to plan ahead are essential. At least two years experience in management at a food-related business is required. Assistant production manager

The ideal candidate has experience managing a team and enjoys leading, inspiring, and training staff members. Duties of this position focus on training staff, improving efficiency, hands on day to day management of production, managing inventory, and more.

This position requires prior experience to oversee butchering, smoking, curing, fermenting, and aging inside Smoking Goose's USDA-inspected meatery where we work by hand in small batches to craft over 40 varieties of cured and smoked meats. Working closely with the Production Manager, Production Crew, and Quality Control Staff requires excellent communication skills and a team spirit.

This full-time, salaried position offers $50-55,000 annually plus matching 401K, health insurance, paid time off, and more. Regular working schedule is daytime weekday hours (off evenings, weekends, holidays).

Responsibilities include

  • Hands-on management of the daily production of smoked, cured, fermented, and aged meats

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements

  • Execute production schedules

  • Meet order fulfillment requirements and deadlines

  • Manage inventory

  • Prepare reports for management team meetings

Requirements include

  • Prior experience that meets or exceeds at least one of the following thresholds

    • Two years experience in food production with applicable leadership experience

    • Two years management experience in the food industry

    • Bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline

  • Demonstrated leadership skills: directing and coordinating personnel

  • Demonstrated time management skills: achieving production targets within set time frames

  • Demonstrated decision making skills: gathering evidence and making key production choices
