Production Manager

The ideal candidate has experience managing a team and enjoys leading, inspiring, and training staff members. Duties of this position focus on training staff, improving efficiency, leading new product development, managing inventory, and more.

This position requires prior experience to oversee butchering, smoking, curing, fermenting, and aging inside Smoking Goose's USDA-inspected meatery where we work by hand in small batches to craft over 40 varieties of cured and smoked meats.

This full-time, salaried position offers $55,000 - $65,000 annually plus matching 401K, health insurance, paid time off, and more. Regular working schedule is daytime weekday hours (off evenings, weekends, holidays).

Responsibilities include

  • Oversee hiring and training of food production personnel

  • Oversee daily production of smoked, cured, fermented, and aged meats

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements

  • Develop new products to meet sales goals and increase generated returns

  • Organize production schedules

  • Meet order fulfillment requirements and deadlines

  • Manage inventory

  • Prepare reports for management team meetings

Requirements include

  • Prior experience that meets or exceeds at least one of the following thresholds

    • Five years experience in food production with applicable leadership experience

    • Two years management experience in the food industry

    • Bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline

  • Demonstrated leadership skills: directing and coordinating personnel

  • Demonstrated time management skills: achieving production targets within set time frames

  • Demonstrated decision making skills: gathering evidence and making key production choices

Meat Cutter/Sausage + Salumi Production: training provided, 4 openings available

- starting hourly rate $15/hour plus health insurance, matching 401K, paid time off, employee discount, and more

- work daytime hours Monday - Friday (off evenings, weekends, holidays)

- Prior experience is preferable but not required, and on-the-job training is provided.

Candidates must have an eye for consistency and quality as well as the ability to work in a cold environment and so some heavy lifting.

Practice old-school butchering skills, working by hand in small batches as part of Smoking Goose’s Raw Production Team in our USDA-inspected meatery. This is not a slaughtering position. This production position involves cutting, trimming, brining, mixing, stuffing, and more: all the hands-on steps to make over 40 varieties of sausages, salumi, cured meats, and smoked meats. Again, training is provided.

This full-time, hourly position includes health insurance and retirement benefits.

No experience is necessary, and on the job training is provided.
