Working schedule: off evenings and weekends — work 9am-6pm Monday-Friday with 1 hour of unpaid break/lunch time daily

Starting pay and benefits: $14 per hour with employee discount and perks; after 90 days of full-time employment, benefits include five days Paid Time Off, matching 401K, and health insurance. Responsibilities: No previous experience is necessary and on-the-job training is provided. Inside the production space, duties include washing the dishes, equipment, and rooms we use to make sausages, salumi, and smoked meats. Please note that Smoking Goose is not a slaughtering facility but rather a culinary production space. Keeping the building clean and tidy both inside and out means trash and cardboard removal, cleaning floors, litter removal, sanitizing surfaces, and more. Some janitorial cleaning in restrooms, breakroom, offices, and meeting rooms is also part of the job.

Physical Requirements: Sanitation Team Members must be able to lift and move up to 30 lbs and be able to work in the production space (which is refrigerated) as well as in the warehouse (which is not temperature controlled). They must be able to work on their feet for a full shift and must be able to clean by hand using brushes, brooms, mops, dust pans, squeegees, and more. Particularly inside Smoking Goose’s USDA-inspected culinary space, staff must wear personal protective equipment which is provided by Smoking Goose and includes cloth overcoats, hair nets and beard nets, gloves, aprons, goggles, and the like.

Meat Cutter / Sausage & Salumi Production: training provided

- Prior culinary or food-related experience is preferred but not required, and on-the-job training is provided.

Candidates must have an eye for consistency and quality as well as the ability to work in a refrigerated environment and do some heavy lifting.

Practice old-school butchering skills, working by hand in small batches as part of Smoking Goose’s Raw Production Team in our USDA-inspected meatery. This is not a slaughtering position. This production position involves cutting meat plus mixing sausages, stuffing salumi, brining hams, and more—in other words, all the hands-on steps to make over 40 varieties of the salumi, sausages, cured meats, and smoked meats that have earned Smoking Goose features in Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Food & Wine, PBS, Good Food Awards, and more. Again, prior culinary or food-related experience is preferred but not required and all training is provided.

These are full-time positions; however, part-time hours would be available for the right candidates.

This position's duties include:

  • portioning, packaging, and labeling Smoking Goose’s bacon, sausages, salumi, and smoked meats

  • some heavy lifting and the ability to work in a refrigerated environment is required

  • must demonstrate attention to detail and an eye for consistency and quality
