Shipping Coordinator: Department Leader, full-time with benefits

The Shipping Coordinator thrives in a fast paced department, and previous experience working under the urgency of perishable food products is a plus.

Along with picking, packing, and coordinating nationwide shipments + local deliveries of perishable food products, the Shipping Coordinator oversees Shipping Department Staff and must communicate effectively with the Sales Staff and preferred carriers.

The ideal candidate is a quick learner with excellent attention to detail who works pro-actively to meet deadlines. Maximizing efficiency and accuracy is key.

The ability to work in a cold environment, do some heavy lifting, and use a computer proficiently is required. While previous experience with inventory management programs and shipping software is also preferred, on-the-job training is provided.

Packaging Position: training provided

Meat Cutter / Sausage & Salumi Production: training provided

- Prior culinary or food-related experience is preferred but not required, and on-the-job training is provided.

Candidates must have an eye for consistency and quality as well as the ability to work in a refrigerated environment and do some heavy lifting.

Practice old-school butchering skills, working by hand in small batches as part of Smoking Goose’s Raw Production Team in our USDA-inspected meatery. This is not a slaughtering position. This production position involves cutting meat plus mixing sausages, stuffing salumi, brining hams, and more—in other words, all the hands-on steps to make over 40 varieties of the salumi, sausages, cured meats, and smoked meats that have earned Smoking Goose features in Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Food & Wine, PBS, Good Food Awards, and more. Again, prior culinary or food-related experience is preferred but not required and all training is provided.

Retail Store: Food Prep + Customer Service: part-time and full-time positions available

Public Smokehouse is open Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm and Saturday 9am - 4pm. Saturday availability is required for these positions.

Previous experience in retail food sales or culinary production is preferred, but on-the-job training is provided and all those with a passion for working with good food and great people are encouraged to apply.

As Public Smokehouse is open to walk-in customers, associates also engage guests with exceptional front-line customer service both in person and over the phone.

Duties include preparing, cooking, and packaging seasonal food specials in the Public Smokehouse kitchen plus stocking, creating displays, packaging orders for pick up or shipping, and running the cash register.

Shipping Associate

Daily responsibilities include accurately gathering packages of bacon, sausages, salumi, and more to assemble the pallets and packages that Smoking Goose ships across the country. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent communication skills and attention to detail while maintaining an organized, clean workspace. An eye for quality and consistency is also needed to ensure all products and packaging are in good condition and meet shipping standards. Working efficiently and accurately within deadlines is necessary as is the ability to do some heavy lifting and work in refrigerated and un-airconditioned environments.

Previous experience in a similar position shipping perishable items is preferred but not required. On-the-job training is provided.

This position is part of the tight-knit Shipping Department Team and works closely with the Shipping Supervisor. Opportunities for advancement are available.
