UPDATE: THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED Public Smokehouse Customer Service

Public Smokehouse is open to the public for walk-in shopping and pre-order pick up six days a week. Part-time and Full-time hours are available. Full-time positions include health insurance and retirement benefits.

Public Smokehouse Associates work in three main areas:

  • Retail: hosting the public for walk-in shopping and pre-order pick up

  • Kitchen: preparing and packaging foods in a professional catering kitchen with smoking trailer

  • Shipping: preparing orders for shipping nationwide

This is a front-of-the-house position that requires top notch communication skills, the ability to prioritize guests’ needs while meeting deadlines, and excellent attention to detail.

Work also includes cleaning, counting inventory, operating the cash register, answering phones, and more.

Work includes

  • portioning, packaging, and labeling Smoking Goose’s bacon, sausages, salumi, and more 

  • some heavy lifting and the ability to work in a refrigerated environment is required

  • must demonstrate attention to detail and an eye for consistency and quality

  • experience is not required and on-the-job training is provided

This full-time position requires communicating effectively with the lead Shipping Coordinator to efficiently assemble pallets and packages for wholesale customers across the country.

The ideal candidate is a quick learner who can prioritize tasks independently. Working proactively to maximize efficiency and accuracy within deadlines is key. Excellent attention to detail is required. The ability to work in a refrigerated environment and do some heavy lifting is needed.

Previous experience in a similar position is preferred but not required. On-the-job training is provided.

UPDATE: THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED Janitorial / Sanitation Position

about 30 hours per week

- work Monday - Friday during daytime hours (off evenings, weekends, holidays)

- wages generally begin around $12/hour and pay is commensurate with experience

Duties include washing the dishes, equipment, and space we use to make sausages, salumi, and smoked meats.

This position plays a crucial role in Smoking Goose’s success. Attention to detail, the ability to work independently and thoroughly, and a pro-active attitude are crucial.
