Public Smokehouse is like the Smoking Goose pro shop — open six days a week to the public for walk-in shopping, pre-order pick up, and national shipping.

Associates are responsible for creating an exceptional customer experience by providing personalized service and excellent product knowledge in a professional environment that is clean, safe, and beautifully stocked.

Public Smokehouse Associates work in three main areas:

  • Retail: hosting the public for walk-in shopping and pre-order pick up

  • Kitchen: preparing and packaging foods in a professional catering kitchen with smoking trailer

  • Shipping: checking order fulfilment accuracy + packaging and shipping orders

This is a front-of-the-house position that requires top notch communication skills, the ability to prioritize guests’ needs while meeting deadlines, and excellent attention to detail. Work also includes cleaning, counting inventory, operating the cash register, answering phones, responding to emails, and more. The ideal candidate has a can-do spirit and a passion for great food and service.

This full-time position requires communicating effectively with the lead Shipping Coordinator and our Packaging Staff, Sales Staff, and preferred carriers to efficiently coordinate outgoing pallets and packages across the country.

 The ideal candidate is a quick learner who can prioritize. Working proactively to maximize efficiency and accuracy within deadlines is key. Excellent attention to detail is required. The ability work in a cold environment and do some heavy lifting is needed.

Previous experience in a similar position is preferred but not required. On-the-job training is provided.

Charcuterie Production Manager

Now accepting applications for full-time, salaried Charcuterie Production Manager position. This new position requires prior experience to oversee operations in all departments of production inside Smoking Goose's USDA-inspected meatery including butchering, smoking, curing, fermenting, and aging. The duties of this position focus on training staff, identifying and implementing efficiencies, leading product development, managing inventory, and more.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Oversee hiring and training of food production personnel

  • Oversee daily production of smoked, cured, fermented, and aged charcuterie

  • Monitor every aspect of production to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards in accordance with company policies and government regulations

  • Meet order fulfillment requirements and deadlines

  • Conduct studies to identify issues and implement procedures to improve efficiency of production processes

  • Oversee safety, sanitation, and operation of USDA-inspected production areas including staff’s proper use of safety and sanitation uniform and gear

  • Oversee cleaning and maintenance of production equipment to ensure smooth and safe operations

  • Develop new products to meet sales goals and increase generated returns

  • Set production objectives and implement action plans for achieving set targets

  • Evaluate proposed projects to identify potential risks in advance and develop contingency plans

  • Prepare periodic reports to update management team on production activities

  • Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and finished products

  • Ensure raw materials and final products are stored properly in optimum conditions

Requirements include

  • Demonstrated leadership skills including directing and coordinating the activities of food production personnel

  • Demonstrated time management skills including achieving production targets within set time frames

  • Demonstrated decision making skills including making key production choices

  • Prior experience that meets or exceeds at least one of the following thresholds

    • Five years experience in food production with applicable management experience

    • Two years experience in food production management

    • Bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline

Salary, benefits, and application instructions
